Kothari Group headquartered at Calcutta was founded
by Late Sri Suganchand Kothari. His father Late Sri Paramsukhdas and his
uncle Late Sri Dhansukhdas were high ranked officials in the Revenue Department
of Bikaner Estate, and he was the only son between them. After their death
he didn't want to continue with the service and migrated to Calcutta in
the year 1875. After having service-stint for a few years, he started
his own business by trading in bullions and commodities.

age of 14. During the 1st World War his business expanded manifold and
by 1923-24, he became a big supplier and trader in jute, Hessian, Oil
seeds and Bullions. He was also extensively involved in stock market operation.
Because of his high merit, he was appointed as "Banian" (Sole trader
cum agent) of many reputed British and other foreign firms. He expired
in 1955.
During the reign of Late Sri N.D.Kothari, his only son,
Sri G.D.Kothari joined him and after continuing for sometime, he shifted
his interest from trading activities to industrial manufacturing activities.
Subsequently, under his leadership and able guidance these industrial
activities were culminated into the making of "Kothari Group", as one
of the reputed industrial houses in Calcutta.
He is ably assisted in this mission by his only son,
Mr.A.K.Kothari and daughter in law Smt. P.D. Kothari and under their joint
stewardship, the business is gaining in strength from strength.
